French Fry Mozzarella Bites – A Cheesy, Crunchy Game-Day Favorite
The Super Bowl isn’t just about football – it’s about big plays, the energy of cheering with friends, and an unbeatable spread of snacks. Whether you’re hosting a watch party or bringing a dish to share, French Fry Mozzarella Bites are the perfect MVP to any game-day spread. These crispy, cheesy bites combine two beloved comfort foods – French fries and mozzarella sticks – into one irresistible, crowd-pleasing snack.
Each bite has a creamy, melty mozzarella filling wrapped in a golden, crispy layer of seasoned potato dough. The result? A crunchy-on-the-outside, gooey-in-the-inside treat that delivers the ultimate game day indulgence.
To make these, russet potatoes are cooked, seasoned, and shaped around shredded mozzarella, then fried to perfection. This fun and creative twist on a classic mozzarella stick is both familiar and exciting. The crispy potato coating adds a hearty flavor that pairs beautifully with the rich, stretchy cheese, making them a guaranteed win for your football party lineup.
But what takes these French Fry Mozzarella Bites to the next level is the dipping sauce. A drizzle of sweet and spicy chili honey adds just the perfect balance- a touch of sweetness, a hint of heat, and just the right kick. It’s the ultimate game-day snack to keep you fueled from kickoff to the final whistle.

Instructions
French Fry Bites
- Wash, peel, and chop russet potatoes into large chunks.
- Bring a pot of water to a rolling boil and gently add in your potato chunks. Boil until the chunks are fork tender. (stab a chunk with your fork and if it slides off easily, they’re ready.
- Drain the boiled potato and mash it in a mixing bowl using a fork or potato masher.
- Add butter, salt, sugar, and potato starch to the mashed potato. Mix until you have a cohesive dough. If the dough is dry and falling apart, add a small amount of water to achieve the right consistency. The dough shouldn’t be falling apart.
- Take a small chunk of the potato dough and flatten it in the palm of your hand to form a small pancake
- Place a bit of shredded mozzarella in the center of the flattened dough.
- Wrap the dough around the mozzarella, sealing it completely. Roll it into a bite-sized ball. Repeat with the remaining dough and mozzarella.
- Heat oil in a pot or deep pan over medium heat. Make sure there’s enough oil to submerge the mozzarella bites.
- Once the oil is hot (350-375°F), carefully place the mozzarella bites using a metal slotted spoon or metal tongs. *Do not use plastic when working with hot oil*
- Fry the bites until they are golden and crispy on all sides. This should take about 3-4 minutes.
- Remove the fried bites from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.
